Tai Chi for Fitness?

If you think Tai Chi is something best left to The Karate Kid, it’s time for an update! Tai Chi is a moving meditation with proven benefits for body, mind and spirit. Many people gain more strength, stamina and suppleness as a direct result of Tai Chi practice. While others report reduced stress, and improved ability to deal with difficult situations. Tai chi has been used to keep fit and prevent and cure diseases among the Chinese people since the 16th century.

The class is suitable for all ages and levels of physical ability.

Our teacher is highly experienced and works closely with your level of experience, from beginner to advanced.

Born in Taiwan, Yu Yuan began his studies in Oriental healing at an early age. He has been practiced Qi Gong, Yang style Tai Chi and Chen style Tai Chi for years. He was especially influenced by the Tai Chi Chuan teachings of the legendary Taiwanese Master Cheng Man-Ching and the principles of Buddhist/ Taoist philosophy.

Master Cheng thought Tai Chi Chuan could develop Qi and also nourish Qi. The process is reaching the level of “Song”-Not only about mind or physical relaxation, but also gradually steadily remove the tension on the whole body joints, spine, skin, and between bones. So the prenatal Qi can flow smoothly within the body.

Members of the month – August

Congratulations to our first couple of the month Sue and Geoff!
This very special couple have been training together at All Sorts for two years and call All Sorts their second home! They are regulars in Spin and Pump class and their dedication and attitude towards fitness is an inspiration to staff and members. Great work guys!

Describe what All Sorts is to you?

All Sorts is a place we love to come to as we love fitness and being around like minded people is very motivating. All Sorts is a very social and friendly place to be and the instructors are extremely professional and helpful. Plus we get to enjoy doing what we both love together!

What are your favourite Group Fitness classes and why?

We love Spin and have been doing this for over 10 years. We have found this to be excellent for our health and fitness without too much impact. Pump is a great compliment to the cardio and we really enjoy pushing ourselves with the weights!

Instructor of the month – August

Jenny has been a fitness instructor for 5 years Jenny’s drive and passion for her clients and members is exceptional. She always strives to get the best results from her clients and will go above and beyond to achieve this. She is a great addition to the All Sorts family!

Her motto is “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.”

1.      What led you to get into becoming a fitness trainer?

I participated in a lot of group fitness classes when I started working out in my local gym (nearly 7 years ago).  I loved the group scene and the fact that I had an instructor pushing me more than what I would have pushed myself at the time.  I remembered seeing instructors that were stand alone – professional, devoted, committed and genuinely passionate about their job and clients.  But I also saw plenty of instructors who did not have this same drive, commitment and passion and this showed in their classes.  It was this that drove me to want to not only be a group fitness instructor but be a GREAT group fitness instructor! It was at that point I made the change, started my study and began the journey which lead me to a full career change and becoming a personal trainer. I started out in freestyle classes and then ventured into the world of LesMills classes.  Its been nearly 5 years and I still love the buzz I get when teaching and seeing my participants push their personal limits and challenge themselves further than before.

2.      Outside of the gym, what do you like to do for fun?

I love outdoor activities, spending time with my husband and kids, shopping (what chick doesn’t like a good shopping expedition!), relaxing on the beach, and traveling.

3.      What is one thing about you that most people don’t know?

Its not overly exciting – but as a kid I used to play drums and double bass (which I had to stand on a chair to play as I was always on the shorter side….still am on the shorter side!!)
